I Spy Photo Game {Wedding | Party | Printable Freebie}

7 Feb

Image from www.marthastewart.com

My WordPress analytics for 2011 showed that this post received more hits than any other of my posts last year, so I decided it was time for a follow up!

Let’s start with a basic Google search here. What an incredible number of styles and wording there are around!

I still think that this game is a great ice breaker and gives the kids something to do at a wedding. It would also make a great activity for those big special occasion parties – you know the ones: wedding anniversaries, special age parties, etc. Just change the words around or write your own rhyme (I’m absolutely no good at that!) and you’re good to go.

As a special thank you for taking the time to read my post I’ve decided to give away a printable I Spy. I found this rhyme on an image in the Google search, but unfortunately I am unable to find the original source so if these are your words please let me know so that I can credit you properly! The file you download contains two different colourways as shown below, it comes in a zipped PDF format and is for personal use only.

(sorry for the quality) Left is pastel, right is a navy/red colourway.

To download your file please click here.
Enjoy!

2012 New Ranges – Kids Party Invites & Accessories, New Wedding Stationery and Palm Wax Melts

11 Jan Zoorific Party Set Image 400px

Hello, and welcome to Just Jane in 2012!

For some time now I’ve had some printable kids party invites and accessories available in my store, but I thought I’d try my hand at printing some myself and seeing how people like them. I have printed out a couple of ‘fill-in’ invitation sets and accessory sets in a new range I plan to introduce this year. These items will be offered at my next market stall – 20th January, Central Walk Markets, Joondalup, WA – for customers to buy at a price they feel is fair for the quality. This is all in the name of market research … I’m a little bit scared but hope the results will give me good feedback. (more…)

Knights, Castles, Dragons & Princesses …

16 Nov Dragon Invite Image

So my little one is having his fifth birthday in December and, after mulling over  a few choices, he decided on the theme of knights and the party will be at home in the garden.  I really know how to drop myself in it!

The first challenge was to design an invitation.  I was originally thinking along the lines of a castle drawbridge or gate that opens up to show the details of the party.  I’d like to have a knight and a dragon somewhere on the front & maybe we should include a princess too?  I have some lovely digital stamps that I purchased from www.scrappindoodles.com featuring a knight, some dragons and a castle.  The line art on these ‘Colour Your Own’ (CYO) graphics is by Alice Smith.  I’ve used the graphics for some of my son’s friends birthday cards and I think they will look great.

After quite a bit of juggling and manoeuvring of graphics on my page I decided that the castle option just wasnt’ going to work.  The doors would have to be huge and the castle tiny to make it right.  So, onto plan B!

One of the dragon graphics features a dragon sitting with his arms outstretched – perfect for holding something.  Inspiration struck!  I ran up a draft for Rhys to see with a traditional green dragon on it.  No, he wants a red dragon – red is his favourite colour, had I forgotten?  OK, so I’ll change the colours!

Here’s the final draft, and the ones that were distributed this morning to all his little pals. If you want to try it out for yourself I’ll be uploading a version to my website for purchase later today (www.justjanedesigns.com).

One slight hitch – once the tag is pulled it can’t really be put back!  Oh well, not everything can be perfect all the time …

One last word.  All the kids in his class loved their invitations.  Now I’ve just got to try and make the party stand up to their (perhaps) elevated expections!!  Wish me luck …

New Ladybird Invitations

8 Aug Lady Bird Invitation

Following on from a number of requests for Ladybird and Bumblebee invitations I have been working on some new options.

The Ladybird invitations have been finished and are available in two different options:

  • Print your own - visit www.justjanedesigns.com, and download it from there.
  • Let me print and prepare your invitations by getting in touch with me

The choice is yours.

First Birthday Invitation

Some more news:  As you may have noticed from the first option above I have now set myself up with the ability to sell my designs directly to you.  This option is still in testing and depending on how successful it is will expand as time moves on.  I may even set up a separate web site for this side of the business.

I will also be selling my designs through www.card-making-downloads.com, so watch this space for more details on that.

New Baby!

19 Jun
This week I have been working on a card for my brother and sister-in-law who had their 2nd baby on Monday.  A second girl to add to their family.

As we knew what to expect – a girl – and on which date – 14th June – I already had some ideas about what I wanted to do.  In fact I had already made a  design for some wedding invitation samples which I wanted to use in a different way.  Also, whilst I know that pink is a favourite for little girls, I’m not a great fan and wanted to do something a little bit different.

Front & back of the card

If you’ve looked at my Weddings gallery you will already be familiar with much of the design as it is based on one that I have used on some samples there.  It is simple, but feminine and the heart feature is perfect for placing the new baby’s name in.  I also added some butterfly silhouettes.  My 4 yr old son, when asked what he thought, said that he thought the butterfly on the front wasn’t finished because it didn’t have any colour on it … mmmm, he may have a point there, but it’s too late now!

To make the final card I printed out the front and back of the card onto quality matt photo paper, cut them out and stuck them onto some purple card stock which was folded down the centre.  I also printed out an inside page with a greeting and a repeat of the single flower motif.  The inside section was glued with a thin strip to one side of the card and then I tied a coordinating ribbon around the centre of the card.  I added a few crystal embellishments and the result you can see here.

The finished product

You may also have noticed that I made an envelope to go with the card.  So by the time my nieces family have received all their specially designed goods they will be well and truly floraled out!! :-)   But I enjoyed doing it!

By the way, I’m working on a new online shop where you will be able to use my designs and personalise them to your requirements so keep checking back on the website for more information on that.

All the best
