Breaking the Ice at the Wedding Reception

24 Nov

I’ve recently had some new business cards and other stationery printed by moo - I love that I can have as many different designs as I like in one pack, although I don’t often use that option! Anyway whilst I was randomly wandering around their site the other day I found a wonderful section showcasing things that other people had done for their Wedding.

Breaking the ice at the wedding reception is always hard – how DO you get people to talk to each other? I’ve talked about ‘I Spy’ Photo games here before, but what about a quiz asking questions about the happy couple? There’s nothing like competition to get people chatting!

Super little gift boxes for your baby bulb candles!

28 Sep

As you know, I love gift boxes and I love candles! When I was trying to come up with a gift for my son’s teachers for the end of term it made sense to join the two together and make gift boxes for my baby bulb candles.

Making them prompted me to write a post for my Just Jane Designs blog and to include a great freebie of the template and the word art.

Christmas Cards – 2011

25 Sep

So we are into September now and I’ve started on my Christmas cards. It may seem early, but I know from experience how time can creep up on you!

So far I’ve managed to use up the remnants of last year’s papers and I’m very pleased with the results:

I’ve also done a bit of work on another design new for this year:

I’m looking for new papers and new inspiration now. What have you seen around that you like? Are you getting your plans in place for Christmas?

Introducing … Soy Wax Candles

18 Aug Large Square Container Soy Wax Candles

After much anticipation (well, in our house anyway) I am finally able to announce the new addition to Just Jane … soy wax candles.

Candles by Just Jane

These are something we have made at home for some time now, but after several friends commented on how lovely they were when given them as gifts we finally decided to give them a go as a part of the business. It’s very exciting although a little daunting too.

The candles are made of 100% soy wax and for now they are all container candles – hand poured into lovely glassware. In the fullness of time we will expand the range and we hope to introduce pillar candles eventually. Soy wax is a completely eco-friendly product and sustainable which makes chosing candles made of this vegetable based wax an environmentally sound one. I’ve included below a little chart which shows the differences between burning a regular paraffin blend candle (what most mass produced candles are made from) and a soy wax candle.

Paraffin vs Soy Wax Chart

My candles are all hand poured by me and made with love.

And the really great thing about them is that they can be decorated and personalised to suit your requirements! The baby bulbs make ideal bonbonniere/placecard style gifts for weddings and special events and the larger ones are great for gifts for those special people in your life.

Baby Bulb Candles - Decorated

We are starting small with just 3 styles but as the business grows so will the range.

I would love for you to visit www.justjane.com.au and have a good look at them. I even have a store set up where you can order them online and then I’ll be in touch to discuss the finer details.
